Former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze considers that there should be no U.S. bases on the territory of Georgia. Commenting on information by media, he said “it will be a crime to deploy American troops in Georgia. This should not happen.”
According to Kavkaz press, U.S. military instructors who trained local soldiers, appeared in the country under Shevardnadze’s rule. Former President opposed Georgian troops’ participation in the military operations in Afghanistan, where 750 Georgian servicemen had been recently sent.
