Twitter has hired two high-profile Google execs – Shailesh Rao and Stephen McIntrye – to lead an aggressive international expansion in advertising, All Things D reported.

Rao will be joining the online communications network as VP of international revenue and will be starting in April in San Francisco. In that job, he’ll be in charge of setting up direct sales operations in countries and in regions where Twitter is ready to monetize.

At Google, Rao was most recently head of Google’s display ads business for Asia.

McIntrye has joined Twitter as a director of online sales and operations, which is its self-serve product that will debut to small businesses in March. He will be based in Dublin, Ireland. He was most recently working on Google’s international self-serve ads team in Ireland.

Both will report to Twitter sales head Adam Bain, who heads a staff of 120 employees in the U.S., UK, Japan and Ireland.

The pair was not the only Google hires of late at Twitter. The company recently hired UK YouTube sales head Bruce Daisley to run its entire sales team there.

Mediamax was informed in the press service of Orange Armenia that the project allows building mobile networks with much less costs and time.

The innovation of TIGRAN consists in the structure of the site: the equipments are installed directly on a platform inside the tower. This new concept allows optimizing GSM Greenfield site design: space, construction time and costs.

“I am happy to manage this team, which is motivated and full of new ideas. The TIGRAN team consists of Armenian and French engineers, and that’s the result of their joint research. We are a part of a big Group, and this idea will be used in the future during other network roll-out projects. Orange Armenia is really proud for this contribution”, said Bruno Duthoit, CEO of Orange Armenia.

The project was born last year and the first TIGRAN tower was installed in June 2009. As of today, more than 100 towers have been built with this new principle.

As the Head of PSRC Telecommunication Department Gevorg Gevorgyan stated at the session today, the effect of the license is suspended because of non-payment of state and license duties.

Representatives of companies stated at the session that voice service provision has become an “unprofitable business”, since large telecommunication operators, in particular, Beeline, “press the small ones”. PSRC member Samvel Arabajyan noted that large telecommunication operators have made larger investments to develop infrastructures and this allows them being more competitive. He urges small companies to follow the global practice of VoIP services and take the path of consolidation.

Mediamax reports that Igor Klimko specified that in order to introduce fourth generation network, the regulator should start provision of 4G frequencies to operators.

According to “ArmenTel” Head, the company does not consider introduction of 4G network in the nearest prospect and prefers to focus on improving the quality of services, which are already being provided.

Answering the question on changing the tariff policy of “ArmenTel” in conditions of new landline connection operators’ entry to the market, Igor Klimko reminded that tariffs for landline connection are defined by the Public Service Regulatory Committee (PSRC), and the company cannot change them.

Commenting on establishment of ARMIX Fund for Internet Traffic Exchange, Igor Klimko expressed regret that its founders did not invite to discussions “ArmenTel” “as a united connection operator and only informed us on the fact of setting up such a structure”.

“Nevertheless, we are open for discussions”, Igor Klimko summed up.

Mediamax reports that representative of Business Soft Alliance (BSA), as well as the interests of Microsoft in Armenia Narine Mkrtchyan said this in Yerevan today.

She did not name definite dates for the checks, noting that the Armenian Police and SS experts will visit companies, which have received urges and warnings of BSA to shift to licensed SS.

According to Narine Mkrtchyan’s assessments, the level of pirated software support use among Armenian companies makes 90%. “Microsoft will not insist upon licensed SS for home users, however it will continue struggle against use of pirated operational systems and software by entities, which gain profit from that”, she noted.

Narine Mkrtchyan informed that in February, BSA and the Armenian Police organized checks in 4 stores of computer equipment in the center of Yerevan, as a result of which they revealed that the stores sold computers with unlicensed operational system.

As Mediamax was previously informed in Armenian representative office of Microsoft, the majority of Yerevan stores of computer equipment possess licenses for Microsoft SS sale, however at that many of them continue spreading unlicensed SS.
